John Pflueger joined the firm in 1965; his Santa Rosa City Hall competition entry won third prize in 1966. John's Creative Arts Extension at City College of San Francisco was a 1974 AIA award winner and his state energy efficient office building competition entry won an honor award in 1977. John led the firm's design of Cowell Hall at the California Academy of Sciences, which won a national pre-stressed concrete award in 1968. John completed ongoing projects for the California Academy of Sciences, University of San Francisco, Stanford University and City College of San Francisco. He led restoration of the historic Santa Rosa Ferryboat and Paramount Theater in Oakland. In collaboration with landscape architect, Robert Royston, the Corte Madera Creek Flood Control project was completed. He designed a new baseball park for the Giants and completed master plans for the Navy at Treasure Island and Mare Island. Once the firm's military hospital work had been completed, Milton Pflueger retired in 1976. John's work with existing institutional clients continued into the 1980s and was enhanced by the firm's new commitment to saving energy.
