Pflueger Architects comprised Timothy, Milton and John Pflueger. Tim formed the firm in 1907: his work included Union Square Plaza and Garage, 450 Sutter, Pacific Coast Stock Exchange, Top of the Mark, I. Magnin, Pacific Telephone Building, the Bay Bridge, 1939 World's Fair and the Paramount Theater in Oakland. After the sudden death of Timothy Pflueger in 1946, John's father, Milton, assumed responsibilities. Milton's accomplishments include Richmond Civic Center and projects at Stanford University, University of San Francisco and City College of San Francisco. In the 1960s Milton became managing principal of a joint venture for four new military hospitals, including Walter Reed General Hospital in Washington, D.C. In 1976 Pflueger Architects was formed and in 1980 the firm moved its offices to James Lick's Bathhouse on 10th street. While Milton was fully engaged in military hospital work, the firm's university and institutional projects were led by John Pflueger until 1990 when John Pflueger closed the San Francisco office, downsized the firm and relocated a small staff, including his son, Tom, to a studio in Mill Valley. In 1994 the firm relocated to Sonoma Valley.
